The Union Arsenal is home to many fine Civil War historical items.
Welcome to The Union Arsenal Civil War Relic and Memorabilia Shop. It is with great pleasure that I am able to bring this website with its many historical items to all of you who are interested in the Civil War. My passion for the history of the Civil War is what led to the creation of the Arsenal. As a member of the Civil War Dealers and Collectors Association, I will stand behind every item on this site. Honesty and integrity is something I value greatly and something you can expect as a customer. Your satisfaction is my goal. Each item is researched and I share as much information about the item that I know and also try to give a historical background too. Every one of these items is an important piece of American History and should be treasured by those who become "caretakers of the past". It is our responsibility to pass these items from generation to generation and preserve the history of the American Civil War thus honoring the men and women both North and South who served so valiantly. I hope you will stop by often and see what the The Union Arsenal has to offer. There are many rooms at the Arsenal so feel free to look around, you might just find that item you've been looking for. The Arsenal Collection grows daily so stop in and see our carefully hand picked selection of high quality items! Note: All of our artillery has been cleaned and rendered inert. Our shells do not contain any gunpowder and are totally safe for display. We do not purchase or sell live shells.
The Union Arsenal Featured Item: The following item is a model 1860 Colt Army Revolver with it's original holster. The beautiful old colt is numbered #125207 (all numbers match)which is an 1863 production number. This three screw model was heavily used in the war and has some pitting and pock marks on the barrel. The loading lever is a modern replacement as are a couple screws. The wood grips are original and in fine condition. The mechanics are worn but it does cock back and hold in a half position and fires. The gun has a pleasing gray patina and displays beautifully as seen in this picture. The revolver also comes with it's original holster which is quite rare to find. After doing some research, it was found that this gun was used by either the 13th NY Volunteer Cavalry or the 19th NY Volunteer Cavalry. I believe it was the 13th. The two initials on the holster are T.H. and there were four soldiers in the 13th NY with these initials. Also the fact that the gun has the lanyard cutouts points to it being cavalry used. The belt strap on the back of the holster is worn away and the holster has an old repair where it was re-sown which appears to be a very old repair. The gun fits the holster perfectly and they both look great in the glass display case. The 13th NY Volunteer Cavalry was positioned around the Washington D.C. area to protect the Capitol. They were engaged with Confederate Cavalry on many occasions. This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful old colt along with it's original holster. They are sold only as a set and come displayed in this wood and glass lockable display case. Comes with letter of authenticity from previous owner. My asking price for this set is $1350.00 and I can accept only check or money order on this item due to paypal rules on firearms.
